Reads, Reviews & Resources.
Welcome to West Coast Pages!
Writing, reading, living and loving as a settler on the traditional and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples.
My name is Maya and this space actually started as a passion project while I worked through my Masters degree during covid times.
I completed a Master’s in Education in Curriculum, with an emphasis in Indigenous Education & Decolonization. This opened my eyes to the power of storytelling in educational contexts, and I re-discovered a love for reading.
While researching for a project, I read that the majority of teachers avoid diversifying their bookshelves or because they don’t know what books to read and they don’t have the time to research and prep for new things. If you fall under that umbrella, I’m here to help!
For the teachers: I create novel studies, book task cards, and other resources to help you bring new books by authors of the global majority into your learning spaces. Click the resources link to be directed to my TPT.
For the bookworms: I post book reviews and reading journal questions for anyone to explore, if you’re rediscovering your love of reading or are looking for some new book recommendations.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find a new book or two to bring into your reading spaces, wherever they may be.
